Why I Left X and Where To Find Me

Hello, my Friends,
I figured I should explain, at least to some degree, why I left X so suddenly. It's complicated, but the best I can sum it up is that I've been wanting to leave X for awhile. There's plenty of good reasons to do so: It's not a fun place to be anymore, with the recent changes to the site and the post-for-clicks dynamic. X is also (if we are being honest) not a great place for women. I don't mean that in a feminist, "men are mean" sort of way, but rather that there's no way to simply hobby post without drawing attention or getting messaged simply for being one. That's fine, I get it, but it is tiresome and unnecessary on my end.
Another problem is that, while X is the only place I gain traction for my books, it's also not a great place to market them. Initially I considered leaving social media entirely and not worrying about anything outside of my website, but I've since chosen to keep my instagram to adjust, and hopefully, focus any marketing efforts there.
The most important thing, however, is the time that X steals from me. Some folks have remarkable discipline when it comes to doom-scrolling, or posting on X (and perhaps, if writing full-time was my job, it wouldn't matter) but I am no such person. Killing the habit of clicking on the app, or pulling it up on my PC when I first sit down to write is already paying dividends in my productivity. I only have so much time between my responsibilities to write, and I don't need the distraction. Instagram is no problem, as I can't scroll that site for more than five seconds without closing it in disgust.
That's the best that I can summarize my decision. It was very much a 'ripping-off the bandaid' decision that I have no plans to go back on. There are wonderful people on X, and I have been delighted to know them to the degree such a place allows, but I'm a loner, anyways, and I can't imagine using X as my social crutch is going to do me any favors.
With all of that said, I would like to address where to find me from here on out. My instagram is linked at the bottom of my website, and is still active. I will work towards more active posts regarding my books there, however, be patient with me as I am quite terrible at it.
Patreon is also linked at the bottom of my website. At the moment, I am still getting a feel for how to use it, and what to put there that would be worth it (if you have ideas of what you would want to see, please let me know) so keep that in mind and subscribe at your own risk.
I am also still on YouTube! Have I done anything important with that channel? Absolutely not. At the moment it's filled with gaming streams of poor audio quality, but I will make more attempts to be active on the channel, though I am not sure of the content quite yet (again, I have no talent for such things).
Last but not least, I will be here, on my website and blog, and more frequently. As with everything else, if there is content you would like to see more of on my blog (it can be entirely book related, more scenes, perhaps breakdowns or thoughts of media I have recently consumed myself, or it can just be entirely about my own writing) please let me know in the comments!
That's all I have for the night. Reminder that the audiobook for Desert Horizon will start recording the first week of April, so thank you to all who helped make that possible!
Good night! :)
