I've been pretty adamant in the past that if you want a recap, too bad git gud... Unfortunately, Jim still requested one, so here you go, Jim!
Atlas Viridian, a teen boy living and working with his father on the Salvage Belt, is sent to the prison labor camp Dierock 88 after his father, Pyros, is revealed to be the wanted terrorist, Typhon. Struggling to adapt to the harsh conditions under Horizon Corporation's oppressive rule, Atlas befriends a diverse group of indentured workers, including Mags, Phee, Decius, and others. Amid the grueling labor, he discovers a hidden alien ship, powered by advanced Kosmonautai technology, which responds to him.
As tensions rise in the camp, a revolution brews, fueled by internal betrayals, the manipulations of Artie, and the interference of the mysterious group, Vanguard. Atlas learns unsettling truths about his family, including that his mother Gaia, is alive and plays a role as a high-ranking member of Vanguard. Torn between these revelations and the manipulations around him, Atlas struggles with trust and the weight of leadership.
The crew, including Atlas' allies, faced numerous challenges, from hostile creatures like the deadly Arachtopus to Horizon's guards, Athea's secret pregnancy and Decius' fall from grace. Despite these obstacles, Atlas and his crew plan their escape, using the alien ship as their beacon of hope. The revolution erupts into violence, with Artie at its head.
In a climactic confrontation, Atlas and his crew defeat the Arachtopus and escape aboard the alien ship, but not without losing Phee. They gain more crew members-- Lyra, Edor, and Apollus, and free the alien ship, that includes an AI named Salvus. Atlas, embracing his role as captain, vows to forge a new path free from his father's shadow and Horizon's oppression. The story ends with the crew embarking on a perilous journey, united by their shared desire for freedom and vengeance, as they leave Dierock 88 behind, and discover that a war is breaking out around them.
